What’s the biggest (open topped) box that you can make from a sheet of paper by cutting out square corners?

Gotta do this one by hand first!

I had students put their paper boxes on the wall, by cutout size and volume. We got a nice visualization of the data and then we put GeoGebra points on to match the locations of the boxes, and transferred that to a new screen.

We didn’t do regression but instead went for a deductive approach, even getting the local maximum without calculus
